Chosen?

There's an interesting paradox in Judaism that seems to confuse a lot of people , Jews and non Jews alike.
The concept of a "Chosen Nation".

It's interesting to note that Judaism is the only religion I have found that believes that heaven isn't reserved for members of their faith alone, in fact Jews and non-Jews alike can attain heaven.

So what is it with the "Chosen" thing anyways?

Every religion obviously thinks that they are the one true religion, if they didn't believe this they wouldn't be members of their faith. To believe in a religion is to say that this is the true religion.

So why is it that Judaism is the only one that makes such a fuss about being the "chosen ones".

For years Historians and the such have tried to say that antisemitism is a result of our being an exclusive religion. What is it about Judaism that makes us different?

How does a member of our faith that believes in the righteous gentile that will join us in heaven, explain to the world that although we are G-D's chosen it doesn't mean we are elitists.

I am very confused in this matter, so I'm gonna end this post in the middle.
If I get an answer that makes sense to me I'll complete this later.

Relive History: my current project

For as long as we have had the Passover Seder, the Rabbi’s have taught: All children should “imagine yourselves to have lived in the Passover story”. In days of yore, all the children could do was imagine, and try to make the stories of their parents come alive in their heads. How can a child, or anyone for that matter, who has never experienced slavery truly appreciate the exhilaration of freedom? Educators have long craved for an innovative educational experience that could take history out of the text books and bring it to life, so that our children can truly appreciate it and “live” Passover.

Recently, a group of young men took upon themselves to breathe new life into the Passover story. Through their hard work they created “The Passover Exodus Experience”, whose goal was to bring the story to life for Jewish youth worldwide. “Exodus” is an interactive, educational play, which recounts the story of the exodus from Egypt as told in the Torah in a new and exciting matter. Utilizing state of the art visual and audio effects, “Exodus” recreates an era long gone, with settings ranging from a futuristic time machine, to an authentic Egyptian Throne room; Children are transported to a place beyond their wildest dreams. Since its inception in 1992, “Exodus” has played in 15 cities spanning 4 continents to over 150,000 children. The Exodus experience is a walkthrough play spanning an entire floor in the new Jewish Childrens Museum in Brooklyn, NY. The 9 rooms, covering more than 1000 square feet, are sure to stimulate and bring alive the story of Passover for every child. No longer will this be a 3000 year old story, Passover will truly be experienced this year!!

Best entertainment in NY...

Ok so I was coming back from the city on Saturday night after hitting a club for a Piamenta concert. First of all the show was sub-par, especially for someone that made rolling stones greatest 25 guitarists of all time list, and bar tender sucked, I mean se didn't even know what a single malt whiskey was, forget about mixing a drink! She screwed up a whiskey sour!!! How hard is it to make a drink that only has 2 ingredients? The best drink of the night was the bottle of Sam Adams I ordered, I mean I figured she couldn't get that one wrong....

Anyways, I was on the train on the way back with sam&duby and arnold, when a homeless dude walks onto the train. I know this already sounds like a joke "4 rabbis and a homeless guy walk outa a bar..." but anyways... this dude starts to sing and dance saying "this is my bread and butter I need $40 for a room in a hotel in the city." $40 for a hotel in the city? Either this guy has an in with the owner or I've been grossly overpaying... the guy the proceeds to tell some of the most racist and vulgar jokes I've ever heard (in public). The whole car is rolling in their seats, and this guy make prob 4 bucks total (I gave a quarter), and moves on to the next cart.

The point of this whole thing is, next week I'm gonna skip the show and just ride the subway for 2 hours, hell instead of paying $10 admission plus 30 for drinks, the whole night will only cost me $4.
So if anyone is interested I'll be riding the 4 train this Sat night from 11 to 1 and your welcome to join me....

Great writer

I never aged

I never aged, I was once a child but never more

I never grew, I was once small but now that is hard to conceive

I simply awoke

When did my childhood end?

When did I change from being the protected to being the intrepid?

From crawling in the shadows of my elders, to sailing the sunrays all alone?

I noticed it suddenly

I had claimed it as mine for years, being "mature"

It took but one childish picture to open the doors of realization

What brought on the transformation?

How did I change from the child in the candy store

That it was to me they turned for payment, me? Am I not still the child?

No…

I never consented, I was to be child forever

I never agreed, it just came about, all at once, no hope or gate could halt it

I was a boat thrust into the sea with the sails of my culture and schooling

Why did this have to happen?

Can’t we just live in the innocent purity of youth forever?

No longer can debts be paid with a childish smile, no time for you and me, only work,… and death

I never aged, I am still the child that is no more

I never grew, I am still small inside though large I may seem

I simply awoke this way, hoping this is but dream, only dreaming my hope

I never aged, the world aged me

I never agreed, the contract signed me

I never hope, Hope is fallow in the world that aged me

Jew pride on the rise?

The New Hollywood Jew?

For years in order to make it in show biz jews changed their name to hide their roots, fearing it would only hamper their career aspirations. After all people seem to think there are "too many Jews in Hollywood as it is."

Scott Ian co-founder of Anthrax and one of the fastest guitarists of all time, born Scott Rosenfeld.

David Bryan, Bon Jovis keyboardist, was called David Rashbaum until he joined the jersey band.

and of course Bob Dylan, whose mother knows him as Robert Zimmerman.

It seemed the only successfull jew was a hidden one.
The marranos of the 21st century, jewish celebs were the farthest thing from proud.

No longer.
Welcome to the new Jew.
Who would think that one of the top selling reggae artist of the year would be a fedora sporting, hairy faced Chabadnik .
Or that the queen of pop, Maddona, would become Esther, the kabbalah spouting Jew wannabe?
Not to mention Demi and Asthon, Britney, Paris and the other kabbalah addicted celebs.

Sarah Silverman called the funniest woman in comedy isn't the only open jew in the comedy field, how about John Stewart the top political comedian of our times?
and the list goes on and on...

Now there's a new revolutionary in the jewish music biz, Jew Da Maccabi, is trying to do to Jewish rap what matisyahu did for Jewish Reggae, bring it to the mainstream.
With catchy lyrics, a smooth delivery, and some catchy beats this Florida based Hassidic rapper is bending the rules, while spitting some serious rhymes over traditional hasidic tunes.
